How is the required final exam score calculated?
The formula:
Needed = (Target% × (current total + final total)) − marks obtained
Worked example
- 48/70 so far, final worth 30, target 50% overall → 0.50 × 100 − 48 = 2 marks needed — relax.
- Same marks but target 80% → 0.80 × 100 − 48 = 32 needed of 30 → not possible; best achievable is 78%.
